Fort Kent--- Jacques A. Levasseur, 82, passed away unexpectedly May 26, 2026, at a Bangor hospital, following a short illness. He was born March 14, 1944, in St. Eusebe, QB, Canada, an adopted son of the late Clovis and Adeline (Michaud) Levasseur.
Jacques last worked with Autotronics, Frenchville, as a supervisor, customizing the interiors of rescue vehicles, until his retirement in 2024. Previously, he was a self-employed as a contractor for many years, and traveled, not only the Valley, but all over the United States building and customizing houses. He was also a former body shop foreman for former Escovitz dealership and was the owner of Jake’s Autobody, where he excelled at paint matching in the paint shop. Jacques was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree Assembly, and the Lions Club, all of Fort Kent. He was a woodworker and remodeled many local homes, but also loved making small items to gift to his family and friends. He was also a hunter and fisherman and loved touring the woods on his four-wheeler with his dog. Springtime was a special season when he could make his own maple syrup and tour the many local sugar camps and reminisce about his younger years working in the logging camps
He is survived by his life partner, Tracey Lee of Fort Kent; two children, Dan Levasseur and his wife Buffy of Missouri, and Jennifer Robinson of Wells; six grandchildren, Dalton, Garrett, Nora, Chloe, Zoe and Griffin; three great grandchildren, Grayson, Nora, and Amelia; a sister, Fabienne Theriault of Quebec; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jacques was predeceased by whom he considered to be a stepson, Thaddeus Lee.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family 1 – 3PM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Fort Kent.
