Obituary

Frenchville--- James M. Kelly, 88, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday, August 21, 2018. He was born October 10, 1929 in Tupper Lake, NY, a son of the late Miles and Elizabeth (Timmons) Kelly.
As an infant, Jim's father relocated to Madawaska, where Jim graduated from the local high school and enlisted with the US Army during the Korean War. After serving honorably for several years, Jim returned to Madawaska and worked many years for Fraser Paper until his retirement. He was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Madawaska. Jim enjoyed sports, golf, bowling, and especially baseball, which he excitedly received an invitation as a young man to tryout with the New York Yankees.  He also enjoyed frequenting the woods hunting and fishing.
Jim's family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Mrs. Pauline Desjardins, "Mulligan" with the Meals on Wheels Team, and Greg Hebert for their many years of keeping a close watch on their Dad.
He is survived by: two sons, Michael J. Kelly and his wife Simone of Terryville, CT, and Patrick M. Kelly of Frenchville; one sister, Patricia Spoonemore and her husband Harry of San Antonio, TX; four grandchildren, Lindsay Lachance, Kassandra Cote, Joshua Kelly, and Jacob Kelly; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jim is predeceased by: his wife of over 50 years, Patricia (Murphy) Kelly, in 2010; and one brother, Donald.
At Jim's request, funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska.
