Obituary

Medway & Van Buren--- Janice P. Cyr (Pelletier), 76, daughter of Leo and Annette Pelletier went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family in Portland Maine on 4/11/18 after suffering a stroke. Janice was born in Eagle Lake, Maine and graduated from Fort Kent High School in 1959. She then moved to Connecticut to work and that is where she met her future husband, Clarence (Calo). Their journey together included a period of time lived in Chicago where their three children were born. In 1974, they returned home to Aroostook County to raise their children in Van Buren. Janice was a wonderful homemaker and dedicated her life to raising and educating her children. Janice was a proud, loving Mom and Memere who adored her children and grandchildren. She appreciated having a house full of friends and family. Jan and Calo have lived in Medway since 1988. She was blessed with the heart of a servant and had a contagious passion for her Catholic faith. She was actively connected with many groups associated with the church as a Sunday school teacher, a proud member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Legion of Mary. Janice volunteered her time and talent cooking meals to serve at funeral services. Every summer she worked in the food booth of the St. Peter's Parish Lawn Party where her famous fudge was a guaranteed hit. Janice enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, testing her luck at the slot machines, knitting, cooking and baking, as well as playing any sort of card game. She also enjoyed spending time by the ocean and loved to travel. Her precious dog Angel infused joy and energy into her life. Jan had a diverse and wonderful group of lifelong friends who created so many memories with her. Janice shared her life with her devoted and loving husband of 53 years, Clarence. She also leaves behind three children: Cheryl Keresey and husband Brian of Alton, ME; Jeffery of Cromwell, CT and Jonathan and wife Jamie of Prescott Valley, AZ. Six cherished grandchildren Katelyn, Matthew, Alex, Tatum, Jillian and Jack. She is also survived by two brothers, Allan and James (Jimmy), both of Texas as well as one sister, Jeanette Schurman of Presque Isle. Janice is now reunited with her brother Maurice of Colorado. The family extends a grateful thank you to Lifeflight and those at Maine Medical Center who went above and beyond with her care. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday 9 AM until the time of service at the church. Spring interment will be in Grand River Cemetery, Van Buren.  The love, joy, compassion and generosity she showed to all will never be forgotten. She was a wonderful role model and the legacy of her kindness will live on in all who knew her. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
