IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janine M.
Soucy
August 9, 1960 – December 21, 2021
Van Buren--- Janine M. Soucy, 61, passed into her Fifth Day on December 21, 2021, at a Caribou hospital, following a short illness. Born August 9, 1960, in Fort Kent, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Antoinette (Lamarre) Deschaine.
Janine last worked as a cook at Tulsa, Van Buren, before her medical retirement. Previously she worked several years housekeeping at L'Acadie where she loved to interact with the residents. She worked many various jobs in the area but cherished the several years she drove a school bus for Van Buren schools and was able to chat and laugh with all the students and watch them grow.
Janine was skilled in all things crafting and loved to busy her hands with knitting, quilting, and sewing. She would often share her goods at craft fairs throughout the St. John Valley and was well known for her mittens throughout the County and Downstate. She's created many "Memory Bears" for her friends and family when they would bring her their deceased relatives' garments. Janine enjoyed bowling and skiing, but her deep faith was paramount in her life. She achieved her Cursillo, and avidly attended bible studies with her friends and online.
She is survived by her beloved husband of over 21 years, David Soucy of Van Buren; two children, Kathryn Beckwith and her fiancé Pablo Salas of Ecuador, and Brenton Soucy of Van Buren; three step children, Pierre Soucy and his companion Serveta, Denis Soucy and Jasii Soucy, all of Germany; two brothers, Lee Deschaine and his wife Donna of Hamlin and Ken Deschaine; two grandchildren, Andy & Zoey; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday January 13, 2022, at St. Joseph Church, Hamlin Rd., Hamlin. Relatives and friends may greet the family Thursday morning 9 AM until the time of Mass at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High Street, Van Buren.
