Obituary

Madawaska---Jean-Guy Levesque, 72, passed away from a long illness on October 14, 2015 at Borderview Rehab and living center. He was born July 28, 1943 to Romeo and Laurence (Couturier) Levesque in Edmundston, New Brunswick Canada. He married his wife Claudette (Albert) in 1967 and together raised two daughters Cynthia Levesque and Sonya Poiesz. He worked at Fraser Papers as an electrician until he was retired early on. Throughout his life, he experienced the ravages of multiple sclerosis with his wife and family by his side. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at the family camp, going to Monsieur Bert's for coffee and talk politics, and riding his grandkids on his scooter. Peps, as he was affectionately known, was a man of few words, never complained and always loved his family. He is predeceased by his sister Jacqueline Beaulieu, his parents Romeo and Laurence Levesque. He is survived by his wife Claudette of Madawaska, daughter Cynthia and her children Dominique, Pierre-Luc, and Alexandre Bouchard of Bangor, his daughter Sonya and her husband Robert Poiesz and their children Emma Pelletier, Robbie, Ian and Matthew Poiesz all of Madawaska. He is also survived by his sister Lise and her husband Gilles Picard, and sister Reinelde and her husband Gilles Grondin all of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and many nieces and nephews. For the last eight years of his life he resided at Borderview Rehab and living Center. The family wishes to thank all the facility staff. Caring is an art and they ensured his every need was met. They were part of his family and their kind and compassionate care will never be forgotten. Family would also like to thank his friend Roland (Pete) Ouellette for being so kind to him, watching over him and being his voice when he lost his. Words cannot express how thankful the family is for this. A mass of Christian burial will be held10am on October 23, 2015 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Madawaska. Friends and family are invited to meet in celebration of his memory one hour prior to the service at 9am until 9:45am. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in his name to Borderview Rehab and Living Center, attn.: Robert Poiesz.
