Obituary

Madawaska---Jeanne D'arc Bretemps, 68, passed away on October 11, 2016 at a Fort Kent health care facility after a short courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick on July 3, 1948, daughter of the late Florent and Therese (Morel) Picard. Jeanne was a committed Christian of great Faith. Being an active woman, she enjoyed walking, snowshoeing, golfing with her friends, and camping with her husband, Norman. Jeanne took great pride in her children and grandchildren. She was a warm, caring person who devoted all of her time to family whom she cherished. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-eight years, Norman Bretemps of Madawaska; two daughters, Sharon Nadeau and her husband Jean of Madawaska, Keela Smith and her husband Christopher of Ellsworth; four grandchildren, Samantha, Hannah, and Andrew Nadeau, and Mayson Smith; one sister, Yvette Smith and her husband Donald of Ontario; three brothers, Jean-Hugues Picard and his wife Anne, Romain Picard, Paul Picard and his wife Catherine all of Quebec; many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held 10am on October 15, 2016 at the Madawaska Gospel Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Friday, October 14. There will be no visiting hours on Saturday before the service. Interment will be private and held at a later time.
