Van Buren & Hamlin--- Jeanne D'Arc Cormier, 97, peacefully entered into Eternal Life on November 7, 2023, at a Van Buren healthcare facility. She was born in Van Buren on September 19, 1926, a daughter of the late Martin Levasseur and Clara (Ouellette) Levasseur-Nadeau.

Jeanne was a master seamstress and altered many suits and dresses over her many years working at former Raymond's Clothing Store, Van Buren. The wife of a farmer and painter, she was a dedicated wife and never hesitated to assist her husband around the farm while raising her family. She was a fabulous cook and found herself catering for many weddings and events for friends and family, and her children never went without a delicious dinner. Jeanne was a life member of the Daughters of Isabella and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by one son, Robert "Burner Bob" Cormier and his wife Charlene of Hamlin; one brother, Roland Levasseur of Woonsocket, RI,; five grandchildren, Tanya Elliot and her husband John, Jim Cyr, Nicholas Cormier, Dean Cormier, and Adam Cormier; eleven great grandchildren, Josh, Makenzie, Ben, Bowdoin, Dakota, Gavin, Kadence, Brantley, Kamryn, Cole and Levi; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Joseph F. Cormier in 1995, two children, Joan Drummond in 1998 and Roger Cormier in 2010, and three siblings, Rita Beaulieu, Gilman Levasseur, Dorothy Dube.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Relatives and friends may greet the family Monday evening 6 – 8:00 PM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
