Lille --- Jeannette M. (Cyr) Bouchard, 82, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2019 at her daughter's home. She was born on April 19, 1937, daughter of the late Henry Victory Octave and Lena (Ouellette) Cyr. Jeannette and her husband Lionel were president of the Maine Foster Parents Association for over 25 years. Together, they lovingly fostered over 144 children. Continuing her love for children, Jeannette worked as the head cook of the Grand Isle Elementary School. In addition to her work, she cleaned houses for many years. People loved her work. For those who knew her, she could put 10 men to shame when it came to work outside. She enjoyed picking potatoes for the local farmers, the most barrels she picked was 140 barrels in a day. She is survived by three children, David Bouchard (Diane) of Connecticut, Norman Bouchard (Robin) of Massachusetts, AnnMarie Cyr (Danny) of Madawaska; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six siblings, her twin sister Annette Sirois, Rose Marie Beaulieu, Diane Bouchard, Emile, Delmer and Raymond Cyr; along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Lionel in 1992; two foster children, Ricky Rossignol and Nancy Rossignol Chandler; one brother, Edwin Cyr; and sisters, Loraine, Bernadette, Jacqueline, Florence, Verna, and Rena. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the St. Gerard Church in Grand Isle. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home on Thursday, October 17, 2019 from 6-8pm and from 8:30-9:30 am the morning of the service. Interment will be held at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
