Fort Kent – Jeannette (Albert) Fournier, 103, passed away on July 11, 2019. Jeannette was born Jeannette Anaisse Albert, on October 9, 1915, in St. Hilaire, N.B, Canada. She was the daughter of Felix and Anaisse Albert. On October 6, 1942 she married her husband Louis E. Fournier and they had three children. Jeannette lived in Madawaska with her family most of her life, employed at local women's boutiques. She enjoyed bowling well into her eighties and was an excellent competitor and team player in her league. She was an active communicant of the St. Thomas Church and volunteered with many local organizations. She will always be remembered for her love of playing cards with family and friends. Jeannette enjoyed knitting blankets for family and friends and donated many to be raffled in fundraisers for the Daughters of Isabella. She spent her final eight years under the excellent care of the staff at Crosswinds Residential Care in Fort Kent. She is survived by one son, Francis Fournier and his wife Dorothy of Biddeford; two daughters, Jaqueline Taylor of Connecticut, and Carol Fournier of Cape Elizabeth; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Fernande Smythe of Montreal, Canada; as well as many nieces and nephews Jeannette was predeceased by her husband Louis E. Fournier; as well as several siblings. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on July 15, 2019 at the St. Thomas Church in Madawaska. In keeping with Jeannette's wishes there will be no calling hours. Internment will immediately follow the service in the Parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jeannette's memory may be made to the Crosswinds Activity Fund, 40 Village Road, Fort Kent, ME 04743.
