Fort Kent--- Jeannette Voisine, 97, peacefully entered into rest October 22, 2024, following a short illness. She was born April 12, 1927 in Fort Kent, a daughter of the late Oscar and Amanda (Caron) Pelletier.
Jeannette last worked as a cook with Northern Maine Medical Center for over 28 years, until her retirement in 1989. Previously she worked in the kitchen of Fort Kent Elementary School, where she loved interacting with the many kids coming in for lunch. Jeannette adored raising her family and delighted with the addition of her many grandchildren. Jeannette was an avid gardener, and her immaculate yard was adorned with many beautiful flowers. She also loved her daily walks and was renowned as the "Walking Lady with the Baseball Cap."
She is survived by five children, Linda Roy of Saco, Dana Voisine and his wife Brenda of Scarborough, Jenny Pelletier of Fort Kent, Allen Voisine of Massachusetts, and Judy Gagnon of Fort Kent; one brother, Milton Pelletier and his wife Juliette of Fort Kent; a sister-in-law, Marggie Pelletier, of Canada, 20 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Gilman Voisine, in 1987, two sons, Milton and Bruce Voisine, three grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas, and Jennifer, one brother, Richard Pelletier, two sisters, Jackie Anderson and Laurette Dumond, and a son-in-law, George Roy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, October 28, 2024, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Relatives and friends may greet the family Sunday evening 6-8:00 PM at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeannette's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
