Hamlin--- Jeannine (Rioux) Cyr, 83, peacefully died on June 11, 2019 at Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. She was born in Drummond N.B. September 21, 1935, a daughter of the late Edward and Adele (Picard) Rioux, and was the beloved wife for over 41 years of the late Peter P. Cyr of Hamlin.
She was a stay-at-home mother until she and her husband purchased Pete's General Store, which they managed from 1970 to 1983. After "semi-retiring," they went on to open JP Greenhouses for several years and working part-time at the former Wagon Wheel, because she missed all the people so much. Jeannine also had a love for gardening, knitting and crochet. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church and an active member of the Columbiettes for over 40 years.
She is survived by: her daughter Dinah Parent (Rudy) of Hamlin, three sons, Michael (Donna) of Georgia, Edward (Sandra) of Connecticut, and Bruce (Mary) of South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Jamie and Nick Parent, Heather Levesque, Michelle, Dan, Kevin and Nicholle Cyr; eight great grandchildren, Courtney, Kayla, Peter, Emma, Brianna, Carly, Peyton and Aiden; one great-great granddaughter, Eden Jeannine Beckwith; four brothers, Guildo, Joel (Yvonne), Gracien (Denise), and Glenn (Alvine); four sisters, Odette Albert, Gaetanne Desjardin, Greta Ledoux (Jean-Guy), Joselyne Morin (Hubert); a brother-in-law, Roland Corbin; four sisters-in-law, Gaetanne Rioux, Jeanne Rioux, Colette Michaud and Jane Perreault; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Jeannine was predeceased by one son, Ricky, a great grandson, Simon Cyr, three brothers, Alyre, Gerald, and Sylvain and two sisters, Gemma Corbin and infant Johanne Rioux.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hamlin Rd., Hamlin. Relatives and friends may greet the family Friday 6-8:00 PM and Saturday morning 9-9:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeannine's name may be made to: Knights of Columbus Parish Needs Fund-St. Joseph Church, 284 Main St., Van Buren, ME 04785 or Aroostook House of Comfort, PO Box 867, Presque Isle, ME 04769. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
