New Canada - Joan (Lamarre) Caron, surrounded by her loving family passed away peacefully on October 28, 2022.  Joan (pronounced Joanne) was born in Fort Kent on March 13, 1944 to Edmund and Priscilla Lamarre.  She is survived by Carroll Caron (her husband of 61 years) and their four children:  Paul and wife Lisa, Gary and wife Terry, Lynn and husband Steve Guimond and Denis.  She is also survived by her 7 grandchildren: Daniel Hanson, Megan, Dawson and Andre Caron, Seth Dumond and wife Amanda, Elizabeth Guimond and Andrew Guimond and 2 great grandchildren: Emmett and Luke.

Her surviving siblings include Gerry Lamarre, Wil Lamarre, Nancy Lamarre, Norina Smart, Susan Giffard, Alvin Lamarre and John Lamarre.

Joan married the love of her life Carroll Caron on August 12, 1961.  She was the perfect partner and was known to embrace and enjoy everything imaginable on their farm.

She loved her family and friends and welcomed all into her home and more importantly into her heart.   Everyone will remember those large gatherings at her home, sometimes held in the potato house, with lots of people, great food, and many memories.   She made lifelong relationships with her brothers and sisters in law which she treasured.

She worked on their farm together, doing everything imaginable.

She was also very active in the community, cooking to help when families lost a loved one and offering food to help the family through their loss.

Joan was also a breast cancer survivor and appreciated the assistance from the Edgar Paradis Cancer Fund.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at both NMMC and EMMC for the excellent care they provided to Joan over the years.

She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to, The Edgar J. (Guy) Paradis Fund (NMMC), 194 E. Main St. Fort Kent, ME 04743. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, 10am at St. Louis church. Family and friends may offer their condolences at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 6-8pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
