Madawaska - Joel Dionne, 69, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Fort Kent Hospital. He was born in Fort Kent, Maine on July 4, 1953, and raised by his grandparents Magloire Dionne and Laura (Pelletier) Dionne.  Joel retired in December 2021 from appraisal services. He owned and operated Cyr Real Estate from May 1987 until October 2015.  In his younger years, Joel enjoyed travelling, bowling, golfing, snowshoeing, and walking. He was active in the Madawaska branch of the Optimist Club for some years.  Joel is survived by his wife of 33 years, Céline Lavoie; two children, Michelle (Dionne) Desjardins and her husband Kevin Desjardins of Edmundston, New Brunswick, and Joelle Dionne of Halifax, Nova Scotia; granddaughter Myriam; siblings Marcel, Anne, Rose, Jean, Cécile, and Lionel; and several nieces and nephews.  Joel was predeceased by his grandparents, parents, and sister, Thérèse.  The family would like to express thanks to the nursing and medical staff of the emergency room and medicine/hospice units at Fort Kent hospital, the staff of Northern Light Home Care, and special thanks to Dr. J. Harris, Dr. M. Cieniawski, and Dr. W. Doerfler.  In accordance with Joel's wishes, there will be no public service.
