Obituary

Madawaska – Joel H. Fongemie - 75 passed away peacefully on Monday October 12, 2026. He was born in Madawaska on July 14, 1951, son of the late Albert and Lucienne (Dionne) Fongemie. One of Joel’s greatest joys was sharing his talents and knowledge with his children, grandchildren, his brother, and the friends he worked closely with throughout his life. He loved teaching others what he knew, passing along his skills, and helping those around him learn. These moments were about more than the things he built; they were about the connections he made, the memories he created, and the pieces of himself he passed on to others. His generosity and willingness to share his gifts will forever be part of his lasting legacy. Joel leaves behind his son, Scott; his two stepdaughters, Charlene and Carlene; his four stepsons, Gerald, Ronald, Steven, and David; his sister, Jeanine (Andre); his brother, Gerald (Bernadette); and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edwina; his sister, Kathleen; and his brother, Clarence. Joel will be dearly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. May he now rest peacefully, reunited with his beloved Edwina and the loved ones who went before him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Monday, November 2, 2026, at the St. David Church. Relatives and friends may offer their condolences to the family on Monday from 9am until 9:45am at the church before the Mass. Interment will take place immediately following the Mass at the St. David Cemetery.
