Obituary

Madawaska—Joel P. Morin, 75, passed away at his home in Madawaska on February 25, 2026. He was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick on April 12, 1950, son of the late Roland and Frances (Daigle) Morin. Joel really loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, ATVing, and working in his garden. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Francine. He loved spending time with his family at his camp on Long Lake. He worked for forty-four years as a machine tender at Fraser Paper until his retirement in 2012. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Francine (Gagnon) Morin of Madawaska; one daughter, Danielle Pettengill and her husband Lee of China, ME; two grandchildren, Aiden of Biddeford, Bryson of China, ME; one sister, Elaine Millett of Ashland; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grandson, Remy Pettengill; one brother, Dennis Morin. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joel’s memory may be made to the Edgar J. Paradis Cancer Fund, C/O Northern Maine Medical Center, 194 East Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743, or to the Remy Joel Pettengill Memorial Scholarship, C/O Erskine Academy, 309 Windsor Rd., China, ME 04358.
