Obituary

Fort Kent--- Joella (Voisine)Bouchard Paradis, 90 years young, peacefully entered into rest October 20, 2026. She was born March 4, 1936 in Fort Kent, a daughter of the late Paul and Olive (Levesque) Voisine, and was a graduate of Fort Kent High School.

Faith was paramount in Joella’s life and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Louis Church, Fort Kent. She was also a life member of the Columbiettes and the Ladies of St. Anne. Joella was a case worker with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services for many years, until her retirement in 1991. She also worked brief stints as a headstart teacher in Soldier Pond and Northern National Bank. Overall Joella was a farmers wife on the Strip Road in Wallagrass, and everyone knows being a farmer’s wife is tough work. She loved farm life and raised her children on the homestead. Joella was an avid quilter and was a long time member of Fort Kent Quilters Club. She cherished many years wintering in Arizona with her husband Maurice and enjoying the summers at the family camp on Eagle Lake.

She is survived by four children, Mike Bouchard and his wife Jan of St. Agatha, James Bouchard and his wife Kathy of Eagle Lake, Louise Tardie and her husband Melvin of Ellsworth, and Dave Bouchard of Georgia; eight stepchildren, Linda, Judy, Tammy, Keith, Tom, Don, Dennis, and Shawn; two siblings, Delcy Voisine and Doris Carrier, all of Connecticut; and a slew of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Joella was predeceased by her first husband, Louis “Jack” Bouchard, her second husband, Maurice Paradis, two stepchildren, Paula and Mark, and siblings, Roy, Willard, Reed, Adest, Alve, Alere, Maurice, and Dave Voisine, and Gladys Couette.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Crosswinds for the wonderful care and compassion. We are also deeply grateful to the nurses and staff at Northern Maine Medical Center for caring for our family during a very difficult time. Your kindness and support will never be forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at St. Louis Church, Fort Kent. Relatives and friends may greet the family Wednesday morning 9-9:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent.
