Joseph Joel Levesque, 78, passed away on March 11, 2017 in Florida with his family at his side, after a short battle with cancer.  He was born in Madawaska on July 8, 1938, son of Willie and Martha (Doucette) Levesque.  Joel worked at Fraser Paper Company for 40 years, until his retirement in 2000. His greatest enjoyment in life was being surrounded by his family and friends.  Joel was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #2638 of Madawaska.  Joel is survived by his wife of over 50 years Pauline (Daigle) Levesque; his son, Joel and wife Lora; his daughter Paula and husband Perry Brown; three grandchildren Alex, Andrew and Kasie and her husband Michael; One great grandchild Sophia; three brothers, Camille and his wife Charlene, Lionel and his wife Pat, and Claude and his wife Carol; three sisters, Bernice Castonguay and her husband Fabian, Ann Marie Bousquet and her husband Bill, and Kathleen St. Pierre and her husband Ron; his Godchild Curt; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents; one son, Darin; two brothers, Ronald and Oneil.  A celebration of life was celebrated in Florida and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Madawaska, Maine at a later date.  Donations in Joel's memory may be made to Mizpah, Inc., Po Box 216, Grand Isle, ME 04746.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home, Inc.
