Obituary

Van Buren---John "The Cook" Cyr, 73, passed away on March 15, 2014 at a Bangor health care facility. He was born in Caribou on April 4, 1940, son of the late Robert and Isabelle (Levesque) Cyr. John owned and operated John's Restaurant for fifty years and was known for his famous chicken stew. He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura "Coune" (Gagnon) Cyr of Van Buren; his daughter, Darlene Ouellette and her husband Keith of Van Buren; two grandsons, Chad Cyr and Karson Ouellette both of Van Buren; five grand-daughters, Tabitha of Minnesota, Linda of Van Buren, Tiffany of Massachusetts, Erica of Bangor, and Jessica of Van Buren; nine siblings; many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Family and friends may call at the church from 10am until 10:45 on Friday. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, Founders Affiliate, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
