IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Lionel
Lizotte
December 5, 1953 – December 24, 2024
St. David--- John L. Lizotte, 71, passed suddenly on December 24, 2024. He was born December 5, 1953, in Hartford, CT, a son of the late Lionel and Theresa (Fortin) Lizotte and graduated from Madawaska High School.
He enlisted with the US Army in 1975 and served in Germany during the end of Vietnam. Following his return home to St. David, he worked various jobs around the St John Valley, including working a skidder harvesting trees. He last worked at Twin Rivers Papermill in various departments for almost 30 years, until his retirement in 2012. During his younger years, John loved spending time with his sons doing a bit of fishing on Long Lake, but always finished the days with his sons stacking firewood. He grew cucumbers in his back garden and, for years, stocked his mailbox for the passing postmen or friends to share. John was an avid tinkerer and could spend hours a day in his shed "improving" his tools or cutting firewood. He enjoyed riding motorcycle all over the Valley but mostly valued any moment he could spend with his grandson. He is lovingly remembered as "ZZ Top" because of his fashionable facial hair.
He is survived by his two sons, Daniel Lizotte and his wife Danielle of St. Francis, and Adam Lizotte of Fort Kent; one grandson, Nathan Lizotte; three siblings, Dave Lizotte and his wife Joan of Pelletier Is., Diane Graham of Montana, and Joyce Lizotte of Bangor; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by a sister Joan Hafford.
