Obituary

Cyr Plantation--- John G. Morrill, 85, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, following a short illness. He was born March 25, 1936, in Ware, MA, a son of the late John and Loretta (Renaud) Morrill.

John enlisted with the US Air Force shortly after graduating from high school. He served six tours during the Vietnam War, and, through wartime and peacetime, he had 942 parachute jumps. Over the course of his 28 years of dedicated service John earned many decorations for his gallant service, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with 7OLC, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 2OLC, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross and Combat Readiness Medal with 3OLC. John received his Honorable Discharge in 1984 as a Master Sergeant.

Following John's military service, he worked several years as Caribou's Post Office Postmaster and later, during several of his retirement years, was a truck driver for JJ Bouchard trucking.  He was a long time Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Van Buren and a member of Masons Trinity Lodge, Presque Isle, and he was a proud member of the NRA.

He is survived by: his wife of 17 years, Jacqueline (Martin) Morrill of Cyr Plt.; three children, Lory St. Clair her husband Craig and John Morrill and his wife Lisa, all of Oklahoma, and James Morrill of Missouri; a step-daughter, Sharon Girard of St. Leonard, NB, Canada; a brother, David Morrill and his wife Margaret of New Hampshire; a half-sister, Sherry Colleti and her husband Dan of Massachusetts; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his first wife of 36 years, Loretta (Hall) Morrill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Main St., Van Buren. At John's request, there will be no visiting hours. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
