Obituary

Jossie Rossignol, 93, went to see the Lord on December 13, 2025, at an assisted living facility in Madawaska. She was born February 17, 1932, in Madawaska, the daughter of Isaie and Emelie (Banville) Cyr.

Jossie graduated from Madawaska High School, where she met the love of her life, Albin Rossignol. They two were excited to begin their life together and were married August 21, 1950. Together, they raised four beautiful children: Michael, Frances, Gregory, and Sandra.

Jossie and Albin especially cherished their roles as grandparents. Known lovingly as Memere and Pepere, they treasured time spent with their grandson, John, and granddaughter, Danielle. Jossie's joy grew even more with the arrival of her great-granddaughters, Olivia, Gabrielle, and Bailey, whom she affectionately called her "three princesses". Jossie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Albin Rossignol, who passed away on March 18, 2013.

In her earlier years, Jossie owned and operated Jossie's Dress Shop, where she took great pride in her work. Through her shop, she formed many lasting friendships and became a familiar and welcoming presence in the community.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Rossignol and his partner, Joan Dube, of Frenchville, Maine, and Gregory Rossignol and his wife, Gabrielle, of Germany; and two daughters, Frances Hebert of Madawaska, Maine, and Sandra Peterson and her husband, Michael, also of Madawaska. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Danielle Rossignol and her partner, Iouri Isaac, of Massachusetts, and John Hebert and his wife, Naomi, of Frenchville, Maine; and three beloved great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Bailey, and Olivia, who brought her much joy. She is survived by one sister, Janice Parker and her husband, Ed, of Washington. Jossie was also preceded in death by her twin sister Jo Ann Pelletier; her sisters, Shirley Mathews and Barbara Prell; and brothers Gerald Cyr and Kenneth Cyr.

A service will be celebrated later in the spring, when family and friends will gather to remember and honor Jossie's life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Ridgewood Estates and Hospice care for their compassionate care and kindness during Jossie's time there.
