Van Buren- Joyce (Belanger) Cyr, 91, passed away February 20, 2025, at a Caribou healthcare facility. She was born October 4, 1933, in Presque Isle, a daughter of the late Louis and Emma (Michaud) Belanger and was raised almost her entire life in Van Buren.

Growing up in Van Buren, Joyce worked at the Gayety Theater as a teenager before moving to Bangor as a young adult and working at former Emple Knitting Mill. After several years, she returned to her beloved hometown of Van Buren to raise her three children while working with several local businesses. Following her retirement, she adored being a volunteer over many summers at the Acadian Village, where she welcomed guests to the store with her radiant smile. Joyce was well known for making photo albums and would create and gift a new album for any family occasion. She enjoyed her weekly bowling outings with her ladies for many years and tending to her flowers. While a resident of Caribou Nursing Home, the halls would echo with Joyce's voice singing "You Are My Sunshine," much to the delight of her dedicated nurses and visiting family.

She is survived by three children, John (Tracy) Morrill of Caribou, Ann Piascik of Van Buren, and Lisa (Robert) Wilson of Falmouth; her late husband's five children; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she adored.

Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Gerard "Babe" Cyr, three brothers, Venton Jr., Everette, and Elroy Belanger, and infant sister, Alice, and a sister-in-law, Rita.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for the late Joyce and Babe Cyr at 10 AM on Friday, May 30, 2025, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Main St., Van Buren. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joyce's name may be made to: Acadian Village, PO Box 194, Van Buren, ME 04785.
