St. David--- Joyce A. Deschaine, 72, peacefully passed away July 28, 2024, at a Madawaska healthcare facility following a long illness, with her loving family at her side. She was born September 17, 1951, in Grand Isle, a daughter of the late Guy and Laurette (Gendreau) Lizotte.
Joyce last worked on the sales floor at Mardens, Madawaska, for several years. Previously she worked at Madawaska's former Kmart for almost 20 years. She was a long-time member of the Ladies of St. Anne and a parishioner of St. David Church. Joyce loved music and dancing and her and her husband traveled to Canada many times dancing late into the evening. Her yard was always adorned with beautiful flowers throughout the year. An avid cook, Joyce loved doting on her family and especially loved her visiting grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of over 53 years, Philip Deschaine of St. David; two children, Kevin Deschaine and his wife Vicki of Madawaska and Kylie Deschaine of St. David; three grandchildren, Kristen, Alayna, and Ciara; six siblings, Patsy Ayotte and her husband Pat of Frenchville, Angela Soucy and her husband Gerald of Grand Isle, Jim Lizotte and his wife Dedra of St. David, Carol Floyd of Texas, Gene Lizotte and his wife Sharon of St. Agatha, and Alan Lizotte and his wife Tina of Grand Isle; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, August 5, 2024, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, Grand Isle. Relatives and friends may greet the family Sunday evening 6-8:00 PM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 – 10th Ave., Madawaska. Interment will be in Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. Donations in Joyce's name may be made to Alzheimer's Association 383 U.S. Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
