Van Buren--- Joyce Sutherland Saucier, 79, passed away on October 13, 2016. Joyce was born on Dec 18, 1936, in Wallagrass, Maine.
She was the daughter of Donald and Delima Sutherland. She was a graduate of Fort Kent Community High School, Class of 1954.
Joyce died with dignity in the care of a loving, sensitive health care team at Crosswinds Residential Care in Fort Kent.
Joyce was a loyal, devoted, and loving spouse for 51 years. With her husband Maurice, Joyce was a supportive partner in
their operation of Sauciers' IGA in Van Buren. She was a loving mom and supported her three girls. When grandchildren came along,
there were no better grandchildren than her own. In these last years, she was able to enjoy two great-grandchildren.
Maurice and Joyce loved to travel and they also enjoyed entertaining. Many years were spent at the camp they both loved in
Van Buren Cove. In later years, Joyce also savored periods of solitude at the camp in the company of great books.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Maurice and is survived by three daughters: Lisa and her husband Glen Vaillancourt
of Scarborough, Donna and her husband Roger Labbe of Livermore Falls, Dedra and her husband James Lizotte of Van Buren;
her grandchildren, Matthew Labbe, Riley and Haley Lizotte; great-grandchildren Ayla and Avery Lizotte; two sisters, Rena Labbe
of Madawaska, Betty and her husband Melford Pelletier of Wallagrass; two sisters-in-law, Theresa Saucier, Earline and her
husband Gilman Grandmaison of Van Buren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joyce requested a small, private funeral.
A Memorial Mass will take place 2PM on October 17, 2016 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church in Van Buren. Family and
friends may offer their condolences at the church from 1pm until 1:45pm. Burial will immediately follow at Grande Riviere Cemetery.
