Obituary

Madawaska--- Juanita "Nina" Campagna, 74, passed away January 1, 2026, following an illness. She was born March 4, 1951, in Caribou, a daughter of the late Thelma (Watson) Wardwell and stepdaughter of the late Lloyd Wardwell Sr.

Juanita attended Caribou schools and relocated to Ohio, where she worked several years and started her family. She returned to her beloved St. John Valley and met the love of her life, Philip, and married June 12, 1987. They spent a beautiful 19 years together, continuing their family, before his passing in 2006. Juanita worked at Highview Manor, Madawaska, for many years as a CNA. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, especially with her husband, and would tour the entire state. She loved her large family and adored her children, and everyone knew not to let her coffee cup get empty.

She is survived by two children, Adam Tracy and Ruthann Swary, all of Ohio; four stepchildren, Charles, Dean, Sherry, and Tina; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; several step grandchildren; six siblings, Darlene Espling of Caribou, Peggy Lagasse and her partner Rick Harvey of Mapleton, Kenneth Wardwell and his wife Kathy of Kentucky, Bonnie Burnett and her husband Robert of Chapman, Lloyd Wardwell Jr. of Mapleton, Darin Wardwell and his wife Kim of Alaska; a special sister-in-law, Becky Wardwell, formerly of Ashland; she was exceptionally close to her father-in-law, Raoul Campagna, whom she called "Mr. C"; she was exceptionally close to her brother-in-law, Robert Campagna and his wife Shirley of Madawaska; several sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Juanita was predeceased by a son, Frank Tracy Jr., an infant granddaughter, Eca Harris Tracy, and two siblings, Sylvia Hemingway and David Wardwell.

Relatives and friends may greet the family 10 – 11 AM on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 – 10th Ave., Madawaska, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at the funeral home.
