Obituary

SAINT FRANCIS - Julie "Jules" (Jackson) Bernier, born on June 11, 1967, passed peacefully with loved ones by her side on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Julie was born and raised in Allagash, Maine. In her early adulthood she owned and operated her own hair salon for many years.

Highlights of Julie's life are numerous however, most involved the great outdoors and cherishing time with family. She was an avid hunter and outdoorswoman; a marksman, with rifle or bow, and enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, and navigating the St John and Allagash waterways. Julie's grit and determination led to her to professionally, achieve her license as a Registered Guide. Allagash Adventures Guide Service was founded by herself, and husband Wayne, to support all who shared their passion for exploration in the Northern Maine Woods. Above all, family was the center of Julies life. She once wrote, "I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even in death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love." Her beautiful spirit will live on in her husband, Wayne Bernier; son, Cole Bernier; daughter, Chelsea Bernier; and four precious grandchildren, Logan, Colby, Morgan and Madelyn, who were her pride and joy. She is also survived by parents, Colin and Norma Jackson; two siblings, Kim Jackson and Robert Jackson; along with extended family and countless friends.

She was the heart of many families, not only her direct family. Those who knew her, knew her well. She was stubborn yet kind, humble but never afraid to speak up for those she loved.

Julie's love for outside and zest in living was undeniable; she was a rare gem and affectionately called "Jules" by loved ones. The way she lived her life left us with the most valuable lessons: Live with ferocity, kindness, and intention, enjoy the simple things such as the beauty at dawn and dusk and seize every moment to make memories with the people you love and cherish. She kept the fight and finished when her Lord Jesus Christ came to take her home. Until we meet again, we love you Julie.

On her behalf, the family is so grateful for the hospital staff at Northern Maine Medical Center, who were exceedingly gracious in their efforts to make this wonderful woman and her family as comfortable as possible in such a short time. A special thanks to Dr. James Harris, Dr. Gillis, the incredible nursing staff, and the CEO himself, Peter Sirois. She told us, "I feel safe here."
