Madawaska---Juliette Foss, 94, passed away November 23, 2022, at a Madawaska health care facility. She was born in Madawaska on March 29, 1928, daughter of the late Adelard and Clara (Labbe) Labbe. She taught in Madawaska schools for thirty-five years. She attended Madawaska Training School in Fort Kent for two years then acquired a position at Evangeline School in Madawaska, teaching a class of fourth and fifth graders in 1949. The following year she was transferred to Acadia School where she taught language arts to seventh and eight graders. After the retirement of Mr. Hector Bourgoin, the junior high math teacher, she held that position for a couple of years until the lack of language art teachers resulted in her return to the language arts class. When the junior high section was moved up to the new high school, she moved up with them and remained there the rest of her teaching career. During this time, she attended night classes at Fort Kent and Presque-Isle, worked on corresponding courses from the University of Maine, and attended summer sessions at Fort Kent, Farmington, and took a special nine-week program at Bowdoin College, culminating in her graduation from Fort Kent State Teachers College in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in education. She was a girl scout leader for a few years. Juliette was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and a lector. She was also a Catechist for four years. She married her beloved husband, Arthur Foss in 1971. They were married thirty-nine years until he passed away July 9, 2010. She was also predeceased by her father, mother, and two sisters, Paulette Labbe and Betty Jessome. She survived by her nieces and nephews, Frances Jessome Lebrun and her husband Michel, Michael Jessome and Elaine, Debbie Jessome and Jean Claude Durepos, Peter Paul Jessome and his wife Rose Marie Carrier, Julie Ann Jessome and Bruce Thibodeau; also grand-nephews, Mathieu and Patrick LeBrun, Jeremy Jessome, Stephane Gagne, Alex Jessome,; grand-niece, Marilyn Jessome; special grand-nephews, Christopher and Marc-Andre. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Monday, December 5, 2022, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may offer their condolences from 9am until 9:45am at the church before the Mass.
