Van Buren--- Juliette (Jacques) Soucy, 92, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2020, at a Caribou healthcare facility. She was born in Van Buren January 13, 1928, a daughter of the late Henry and Annie (Cote) Jacques.
A mother and homemaker, Juliette was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Despite losing her husband while she was 32 years old, she raised her five children well and always had food on the table. She owned former Rocky's Restaurant for several years and catered many weddings and special occasions, and she was well known for her homemade baked goods. Juliette was a long time cook for Borderview Manor. She enjoyed crochet, knitting and quilting and often shared her goods with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifelong parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church
She is survived by: a son, Rodney Soucy and his long-time partner Greta Ouellette of Van Buren; one daughter, Geraldine Poitras and her husband Emery of St. Leonard, NB, Canada; a sister-in-law, Gwen Jacques of Brewer; a son-in-law, John Dumas of Skowhegan; Juliette's long-time partner, John E. Cyr; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Juliette was predeceased by her husband, Charles Soucy Sr., one daughter, Linda Dumas, two sons, John Soucy and Charles "Pit" Soucy, Jr., six brothers, Leo, Adrien, Arthur, Wilfred, Roger, and Andrew, and two sisters, Pauline Doucette and Jo Anne Noan.
Juliette's family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to her visiting nurses and assistants from ComfortCare and Valley Home Health
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated privately. Burial was in the St. Bruno Cemetery, Van Buren. Arrangements were a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
