Fort Kent---Karin Dorothea Despres, 74, unexpectedly passed away at her home in May of 2023. She was born in Wiesbaden, Germany on June 1, 1948, daughter of Rudolf and Maria Elisabethe (Menz) Laux. She was born and raised in Germany until she met the love of her life, Joseph "June" Despres. They married and settled in Maine where they lived for many years. Together they had two sons, James Despres of Anchorage, Alaska and Marcus Despres of Berwick, Maine.  Karin was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend who loved wholeheartedly. She enjoyed spending her time quilting, knitting and spending time gardening.  She will be remembered for her bubbly personality and sense of humor. As a long-time resident of Fort Kent, she touched the lives of many and will be missed tremendously. She is survived by her two sons James and Marcus, her daughter- in- law, Maribel Despres, and two grandchildren Andre Despres and Nicole Despres and many lifelong friends. She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph, and her three siblings Rudolf Laux, Helga Laux, and Paul Laux.  Services will be Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at noon at the VA Cemetery in Caribou. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home.
