IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry A.
Bouchard
July 17, 1942 – November 6, 2023
Madawaska---Larry A. Bouchard, 81, passed away on November 6, 2023, at St. Joseph's Memory Care in Frenchville. He was born in Frenchville on July 17, 1942, son of the late Aurel and Doris (Paradis) Bouchard.
Larry instilled a strong work ethic with his daughters. After graduating from Madawaska High School in 1960, he attended Barber School and opened his own Barber Shop. He enlisted in the Army in 1964 and his favorite memories of that time were when he was in Germany. He spent most of his working years at Fraser Paper and, working a second job as a painter, painted most of the church steeples in the St. John Valley (he was not afraid of heights!).
After retiring from Fraser Paper in 2003, Larry and his wife, Laurina, spent several years travelling. They visited most of the States and spent many winters in Tucson, Arizona. Never one to sit for long, if he wasn't riding his ATV or skiing the slopes, he was working on a home project for himself or his daughters, or decorating his home for Christmas, his favorite holiday.
Larry was a dedicated parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He was a devoted and proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather, always ready to join any adventure that would bring a smile to their faces. Most of all, Larry will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and his mischievous streak that was always aimed at making others laugh. To know Larry was to love him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Laurina (LeClair) Bouchard of Madawaska; two daughters, Kim Ohsfeldt and her husband Miles of South Carolina, and Tracy Cyr and her husband Dan of North Carolina; three grandchildren, Chelsea Johnson and her husband Brad, Erik, and Tyler; two great grandchildren, Locklyn and Lilly; four siblings, Bob Bouchard and his wife Colette of Frenchville, Jean Morse and her husband Richard of Connecticut, Margaret Albert and her husband Jean of Connecticut, Janice Ouellette and her husband Phil of St. Agatha; many nieces and nephews; one special uncle, Howard Paradis of Madawaska.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, James Bouchard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the St. David Church. Relatives and friends may offer their condolences from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska. There will be no visiting hours the morning of the service. Interment will take place at the Caribou Veteran's Cemetery at a later date.
