Van Buren--- Laurette C. Fournier, 78, passed away February 3, 2024, following a short period of declining health. She was born August 10, 1945, in St. Leonard, NB Canada, a daughter of the late Walter and Cecile (Ouellette) Bourgoin, and a special niece of the late Marthe Pelletier.

Laurette last worked in the kitchen at Highview Manor for many years, until her retirement in 1992. Previously she worked with Northern Trading perfume factory, Madawaska. Laurette was an exceptionally independent woman and loved to assist many locals with landscaping, during her healthier years. She adored the time at home sitting on her porch with a hot cup of coffee watching life drive by her front yard.

She is survived by one son, Gregg Fournier and his wife Denise of Carmel; three grandsons, whom she adored, Andre, Corbin, and Fletcher; five sisters, Marie-Lorde Thibeault of St. Basile, NB, Florence Marquis of St. Leonard, NB, Elizabeth Henry of Limestone, Martine Senechal of Grand Falls, NB, and Georgette Muldrow of Limestone; one brother, Marcel Bourgoin of Montreal, QC; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Laurette was predeceased by six siblings, Elsie Bourgoin, Walter Bourgoin Jr., Pauline Belcher, George Bourgoin, Louis Bourgoin, Claude Bourgoin, and Maurice Bourgoin.

A memorial service will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, February 17. 2024, at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
