Fort Kent --- Laurette Melanson, 92, passed away on June 14, 2019 at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born on August 29, 1927, daughter of the late Ernest and Lelia (Dubois) Lebel. Laurette was an educator for many years with SAD 27. She was a part of many local organizations and loved to contribute to her community. Laurette is survived by her three siblings, Annette Daigle of Waterville, Mary Scott of Bangor, and Ernie Lebel and his spouse Donna of Portland; along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Kellen Melanson; five brothers, Herman, Lester, Fern, Valier, and Gerard Lebel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the St. Louis Church in Fort Kent. Family and friends may call at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home in Fort Kent from 9:30am to 10:45am before the service. Interment will immediately follow the service in the St. Francis cemetery.
