Ashland--- Lee C. Bennett Jr., 55, died unexpectedly Tuesday, October 20, 2015. He was born August 26, 1960 in Gardner, MA, a son of the late Lee C. Bennett Sr. and Elaine (Elliott) Butkus, and his stepfather Tony Butkus Lee was a long-time harness racing enthusiast and enjoyed his time on the track as a horse trainer and driver. He was a lifetime member of the US Trotting Association. He loved spending time with his family and especially loved doting on his grandchildren. He is survived by: his wife of 35 years, Alane (Berry) Bennett of Ashland; two children, Lee Bennett III and his wife Jill of Rhode Island and Pamela Bennett and her companion Rob Whipple of Ashland; his stepmother Sheila (O'Clair) Bennett of Ashland; four siblings, Susan Langley of Massachusetts, Anthony Bennett and his wife Nanette of Tennessee, Aaron Bennett and his wife Brooke of Sanford, and Terri Goodine of Presque Isle; six grandchildren, Brayden, Colby and Logan Bennett, Blake Vincent, Amanda and Hunter Whipple; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland, with Rev. Steve Cartwright officiating. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning 9:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Ashland Municipal Cemetery.
