Obituary

Van Buren--- Leo James Cyr, 79, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at a Caribou hospital. He was born March 26, 1942 in Van Buren, a son of the late Wilfred and M. Rose (Lebel) Cyr.

Leo James was a long-time carpenter in construction, lastly working with JP Martin, Caribou. He was an avid gardener, sharing his bounties with his family. The rare time he wasn't working, Leo James enjoyed heading into the woods with his wife and children for many camping trips. He is fondly remembered for his sense of humor.

He is survived by: three children, Michael Cyr and his wife Lori of Caribou, John Cyr and his wife Tammy of Van Buren, and Susan St. Amand and her husband Michael of Strasburg, VA; two sisters, Janet Cyr of Van Buren and Imelda Holeton of Independence, VA; four grandchildren, Elisha and Erin Cyr and Jonathon and Jason St. Amand; two great grandchildren, Vivian and Tristian; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Leo James was predeceased by his beloved wife of 45 years, Carline Cyr in 2007.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Burial will follow in Grand River Cemetery, Van Buren. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
