Grand Isle, Leo F. Dionne Sr, 81, passed away on October 30, 2016 at a Van Buren health care facility. Leo was born in Grand Isle on February 12, 1935 son of the late Albert and Roseanne Dionne. Leo's true loves were his family, farming and his community.  After being raised on a farm he attended University of Maine in Orono. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served his country for two years.  He returned home to choose farming as a profession which he did for 43 years. During those years, he also served his profession and community by being a volunteer firefighter, town Council member, Knights of Columbus, Maine Potato Grower Board member, Soil and Water Conservation committee member, Agway Farmer's committee member, St Gerard Church council and choir. He was also an avid supporter of the Grand Isle ATV and Snowmobile clubs with countless hours of volunteer work.  Leo was a devoted husband to his deepest love and wife Mina for 56 years.  Leo is survived by his wife Mina (Beaulieu) Dionne of Grand Isle; three children, Leo Dionne, Jr., and his wife Rosemary Dionne of Acton, Lisa Rogers and her husband Jon of Falmouth, Monique Rossignol and her husband Matt of Van Buren; nine grandchildren Luke, Natalie, Nicole, Brian, Dominique, Derrick, Parise, Andre, and Annie; one sister, Cecile Mackenzie and her husband John of Nova Scotia; two brothers, Omer Dionne and his wife Ginette of Grand Isle, Albert Dionne and his wife Ruth of Caribou.  Leo is predeceased by three brothers Aurele, Victor, Reno; two sisters, Georgianne, Florence. Leo will be remembered for his ability to liven his surroundings with his abundant spirit of fun and laughter with his friends and family.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Friday, November 4, 2016 at the St. Gerard Church in Grand Isle.  Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home in Madawaska from 6-8pm on Thursday, November 3.  There will no visiting hours the morning of the funeral.  Interment will be held immediately following the funeral in the Parish cemetery.  Contributions in his memory may be made to the Grand Isle Knights of Columbus, P.O.
