Grand Isle--- Leo Dumond, 74, went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2024, doing what he loved, embracing the great outdoors. He was born October 27, 1950, in Madawaska, a son of the late Freeman and Emily (Morin) Dumond.

Leo was a hardworking man and enjoyed putting in an honest day's work. Driving truck was not only a profession, but also one of his greatest pleasures. A self-taught carpenter, he's taken on many projects throughout the St. John Valley, even building his family homes. Leo loved the outdoors and spent any time he had left touring the woods and waters for deer, fish, and birds. During the winter, he would strap on his snowshoes and go break trail into places even the moose won't go.

He is fondly remembered and missed by his beloved wife of 42 years, Sherry (Cheevers) Dumond of Grand Isle; a son, Scott Gervais and his wife Mary of Frenchville; three daughters, Megan Fongemie and her husband Darrel of St. David, Morgan Cyr and her husband Dennis of Grand Isle, and Britny Girard and her husband Gabriel of St. David; his cherished grandbabies, Olivia Chamberland and her husband Nate, Spencer Gervais, Chloe Dumond, Jake Fongemie, Darcie Fongemie, Dylan Dionne, Mathieu Girard, Mason Cyr, Alaina Girard, Ashlyn Cyr, and Levi Fongemie; his siblings, Noella Bernier, Jerry Dumond and his wife Lisa, and Shirley Cyr and her husband Cliff; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Leo now joins his predeceased siblings, Cecile Gervais, Antoinette Gervais, Roy Dumond, Reynald Dumond, Aline Bernier, and Kathleen Michaud.
