Madawaska-- Leola (Beatty) Cyr, 90, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2019 at a Madawaska health care facility.
She was born on September 17, 1928 in New Castle, New Brunswick, the daughter of James and Elise (Hebert) Beatty. She married Omer Cyr of Saint David on September 3, 1951.
Leola was a very social person who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Saint Thomas Aquinas Church and her faith in God and goodness was an important quality that will always be remembered. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and Les Dames de St. Anne. She aged each day with grace and dignity that allowed her to live a meaningful and full life surrounded by loved ones. In her spare time, she enjoyed the hobby of knitting, working year-round on the next batch of hand knit goods for her family to receive during the holidays. She took great pride in working in her flower garden year after year as a resident of La Maison Acadienne.
Leola is survived by three sons, Gerald and his wife Karen, Phil and his wife Elaine, and Roger and his wife Carol; three daughters, Susan and Her husband Norm, Carol, and Janet and her husband Don; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters; Gladys and her husband Fernand Cyr, Jeannette Beatty, JeanneD'Arc Cambria, and Mona and her husband Alun Ellis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omer; three brothers, Sidney, Clarence, and Leonard; four sisters, Rosa, Lillian, May, and Gaetane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, July 24, 2019 at St. David Parish. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home in Madawaska from 8:30 to 9:45am before the service.
