Lillian Carrier Marquis, 105 years' young, passed away on December 30, 2016 in Madawaska, Maine. She was born in Grand Isle, ME on July 12, 1911 to Joseph Carrier and Flavie (Lévesque) Carrier. Lillian was the 7 ^th of 9 children and was the last surviving. Lillian and her siblings were raised in Massachusetts where she did her schooling and graduated from the 12 ^th grade. She learned the art of Dancing in Boston. She also worked as an aid in hospitals and cared for the babies as an aux pair until she married the love of her life, George Emile Marquis. They would have been married for 67 years this year. After they wed, she was the wife of a farmer for many years and taught dance classes for 23 years to many children and adults in the Madawaska area and surrounding towns. Lillian arranged and choreographed recitals to raise money for the local orphanage in Edmundston NB. After their retirement they travel for many years. Lillian Loved Life, loved to laugh and loved to learn. She enjoyed reading and listening to music. She never did understand why her body could not keep up with her mind. A Memorial Service will be held 2pm on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Ridgewood Estate, 480 Ridgeview Ave., Madawaska. Family and friends may offer their condolences from 1pm to 1:45pm at Ridgeview Estates before the service. In Lieu of flowers, contributions in Lillian's memory may be made to the Activity department at Ridgewood Estate, 480 Ridgeview Ave., Madawaska, ME 04756. Spring interment will be held at the St. Thomas Cemtery.
