Obituary

Linda T. Emond, 76 years young of Madawaska, Maine passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Linda was born and raised in Frenchville, Maine and was a graduate of Madawaska High School Class of 1966. Upon graduation Linda married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Lionel Emond.  After high school, Linda stayed busy by taking care of family and working. She worked at J. J. Newberry Co., Pelletier Photo Studio, as an aerobics and yoga instructor, and at her favorite job as a mom. She loved her career at Shop 'n Save in Madawaska as a department manager and being in the company of coworkers. After retiring from Shop 'n Save Linda decided to pursue a second career as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA). She was a CNA at High View Rehabilitation & Living Center in Madawaska for nine years. After retiring as a CNA, she became an on-call volunteer for the hospice program "No One Dies Alone".
Linda was a devoted wife to Lionel Emond for 56 years and most proud of her two children, Gary and Gail.  Linda treasured visits with her children and grandchildren and outings with family and friends.  She enjoyed a good lobster roll at the Sporting Club and Lakeview restaurants and looked forward to daily rides with her husband and beloved dogs.  Linda leaves behind her loving husband, Lionel Emond; son, Gary Emond and wife Mindy and their two children, Morgan and Jake; daughter, Gail and husband Gilles Fontaine, brothers Don, Dave and wife Joan, Danny and wife Cecile, Tom and wife Anne, sisters Helen, Lisa, and Sandra; Sister-in-law Diane and husband Jim, plus, many very loved nieces, nephews, and friends.  Linda is predeceased by her father and mother, Donald Sr. and Aline Marquis; brother, Peter Marquis; and sisters, Gloria O'Brien and Paula Michaud.  Every day is a new sunrise and an opportunity to begin again with joy, despite sorrow. To that end, we have planned a remembrance service to share the joy of Linda to be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church on Friday, September 6th at 10 a.m., with a public Committal service to follow at Saint Thomas Cemetery, in Madawaska, Maine.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family online at www.lajoiefuneralhome.com  In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the Alzheimer's Association Maine Chapter, https://www.alz.org/maine or the Aroostook Agency on Aging's Meals on Wheels program, https://www.aroostookaging.org/give-back-b
