IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lona
Bragdon
January 16, 1933 – December 20, 2020
Masardis--- Lona J. (Porter) Bragdon, 87, died December 20, 2020 at Northern Light-AR Gould Hospital. She was born January 16, 1933 in Masardis, the eldest daughter of Kenneth and Beulah (Clark) Porter. She attended schools in Masardis, Ashland, and Presque Isle. At the age of 19 she married Clive Bragdon on July 19, 1952, and together raised three children.
In 1965 she was employed at Tater State, Washburn, for a duration of 17 years, until that facility closed. She was offered to remain employed at the new location, McCain's, but declined the offer rather than travel a further distance in harsh winters.
In her younger years she did a fair amount of knitting. Family always had warm, homemade mittens and socks. She loved her rides with her husband, Clive, where they may hit the interstate by motorcycle or a ride through the woods looking for partridge. She also enjoyed attending Masardis Pentecostal Church and chatting with her Church Family. Lona was a fantastic cook and always made sure her family had excellent holiday treats.
Lona is survived by her three children, Ruthine Lilley of Glenburn, Clive Bragdon, Jr., and his wife Charlene of Cornish, and Ellen "Susan" Bragdon Lilley and her husband Tony of Masardis; a sister, Rena Porter of Wells; six grandchildren, Bambi Dyer, Nathan Giggey, Crystal, Chelsea and Ann-Marie Lilley, and Dayna Cyr-Parker; two great grandchildren, Brandy Duperry and Chandler Hafford; three great-great grandchildren, Cameron, Leah and Caleigh Duperry; and many nieces, nephews, and friends; a special cousin, Shirley Fleming; and friend Ralph Stolze.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years in 2012, three sisters, Ruthine Porter, Arlene Sturgeon and Vella Wyttenbach, and son-in-law, Ernie Lilley.
Funeral services will be celebrated privately by Lona's family. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland.
