Van Buren--- Lorraine Chasse, 89, peacefully passed away March 14, 2025, at a Caribou hospital following a short illness. She was born March 28, 1935, in New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of the late Noel and Celina (Ouellette) Ruest.

Lorraine was a dedicated homemaker and cherished raising her children and caring for her husband. She was an avid crafter and knitted and crocheted many items for her family and friends. Every grandchild has at least one pair of crocheted pichous in their bedroom or a dishcloth hanging in the sink. Lorraine was a talented cook, and no one left her kitchen with an empty stomach. While working in Van Buren's former McDonalds for several years, she was the light of the restaurant and was loved by all her visiting customers.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Gerard Chasse, of Van Buren; eight children, Wallace Chasse and his wife Nancy of Mapleton, Phil Chasse and Anita of Alabama, Norm Chasse and his wife Jacqueline of Virgina, Tom Chasse and his wife Bonnie of Mexico, ME, Cindy Doucette and her husband Steve of Van Buren, Dorine Thompson and her husband Tom of New Jersey, Peter Chasse and his wife Tonnya of Tennessee, and Sue Trumble of No. Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Lorraine was predeceased by all five of her siblings, Pierrette Ruest, Therese Lagace, Laurette Godin, and Josephel and Maurice Ruest.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Tuesday evening 6-8:00 PM and Wednesday morning 8:30- 9:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
