Fort Kent--- Louis F. Hartt, 79, peacefully passed away May 29, 2023, at a Fort Kent hospital, following a brief illness. He was born May 9, 1944, in Eagle Lake, a son of the late Frank and Kathleen (Pelletier) Hartt, and was a graduate of Fort Kent Community High School, Class of 1963.

Louis attended Husson College. Upon his return to his beloved St. John Valley, he worked various jobs. He loved gardening and riding his bicycle all around town.

He is survived by five siblings, John Hartt of Milford, MA, Ellen Franks of Stevensville, MT, Betty Hartt of Ponte Vedra, FL, Dave Hartt and his wife Dot of Fort Kent, and Tim Hartt and his wife Jen of Wallagrass; many nieces and nephews whom Louis kept close to his heart. Louis always remembered the kindness of Doody Michaud and Rod Madore.

Besides his parents, Louis was predeceased by his wife of 14 years, Nancy (Brown) Hartt in 2011, one brother, Peter Hartt, and a brother-in-law, Bob Franks.

Louis' family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Mercy Home, Eagle Lake, for their dedicated care over his several years stay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Soldier Pond. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wallagrass. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent.
