Obituary

Van Buren--- Lucie Laplante, 91, died peacefully Thursday, November 13, 2014, at a Van Buren healthcare facility. She was born June 18, 1923 in St. Leonard-Parent, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Joseph and Louise (Gervais) Cyr. She is survived by: two sons, Roland "Guy" Cyr and his wife Normande of St. Leonard-Parent, NB, Canada and Delano Laplante and his wife Jocelyne of Cyr Plt.; four daughters, Delcia Schultz and her husband Robert of Saucier, MS, Jacqueline Leclerc and her husband Onile of St. Quentin, NB, Canada, Rose Marie Saucier and her husband Donald of Springvale, ME and May Ouellette and her husband Ronald of Cyr Plt.; one brother, Norman Cyr and his wife Noella of Grand Falls, NB, Canada; one sister, Claire Parent of Grand Falls, NB, Canada; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Lucie is predeceased by her husband Alphonse Laplante in 1967, several brothers and sisters, and a granddaughter, Kim (Laplante) Pelletier in 2012. She was a parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church and was a long-time member of the Daughters of Isabella, Evangeline Circle #464. Lucie also served her church community by volunteering with the Mercy Meals. She enjoyed the annual church bazaar, volunteering with People Helping People and the Acadian Village. She was an avid traveler and went on many religious pilgrimages. Lucie worked several years with former Viner Shoe Shop and later as a processor for many years with Potato Service Inc. She also helped her husband on the family dairy farm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning 9-10:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery.
