IN LOVING MEMORY OF
M. "Patsy"
(Lavoie) Dionne
July 4, 1945 – July 13, 2025
Madawaska--- Marie M. Dionne (Patsy), 80, passed away July 13, 2025, at a Fort Kent hospital. She was born July 4, 1945, in St. Agatha, a daughter of the late Fortunat and Phoebe (Thibeault) Lavoie.
After marrying the love of her life, Fernand, they relocated to Coventry, CT where they laid their roots and had their three children, all raised in Coventry CT. Patsy had worked at the local school and later one of the churches in town. Fernand was a carpenter by trade for over 20 years, only later to work at the same church as Patsy as the Sexton. They retired to Florida for several years before relocating to her beloved St. John Valley in 2013, following her husband's passing.
Patsy and Fernand were explorers and would go on family camping trips, instilling exploration as a part of their kids' lives. They also were big on family and would visit them as much as they could, all through Connecticut and also annual trips to Madawaska, Frenchville and surrounding areas. They enjoyed the most traveling on Fernand's beloved Harley Davidson; it went with them everywhere.
Prior to working Marie was a stay-at-home mom, raised all three of her kids, all the while attending to the home. She loved bowling in her bowling league.
She also liked to garden through the summer months, providing us with her rhubarb jelly, and Sunday evening meals that consisted of meat and potatoes with fiddleheads and buckwheat pancakes. She also was a fan of watching her Soaps on TV and later discussing them with her close friends. Patsy loved conversation and had the gift of gab; she always stayed connected with her family through many phone calls and visits, and later in life learned what Facetime was. Patsy had a huge heart for the love of life, friends and family.
She is survived by three children, Daniel Dionne, Denise Dionne, both of Connecticut, and Jason Dionne of Florida; seven grandchildren, Daniel Jr., Samantha, Miranda, Christopher, Matthew, Sara, and Clarissa; three siblings, Adrian Lavoie, Elsie Raymond, Yvette Lizotte, all of Madawaska; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Patsy was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Fernand Dionne, in 2012, and seven siblings, Roland, Roger, Leo, and Walter Lavoie, Irene Tardif, Germaine Tardif, and Linda Mercure.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, July 25, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will be in Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114-10th Ave., Madawaska.
