Van Buren--- Manley B. Lyons, Jr., 68, died peacefully the evening of April 27, 2025, with his beloved wife and daughters at his side. Born in Lincoln on September 5, 1956, he was a son of the late Manley and Mary Lyons, but raised by his beloved foster mother since the age of 8, the late Margaret Robinson.
Manley enlisted with the US Army and served overseas in Germany for several years during Vietnam. Following eleven years of faithful and dedicated service to the US Army, he achieved his honorable discharge in 1986. Upon his return to civilian life, Manley took work with various construction companies in and around the Bangor area, including Job Corps. He married the love of his life. Susan (Gagnon) Lyons, in 1992 and together built their family, and eventually made their way up to the St. John Valley, while working all over the eastern seaboard for Cianbro. Manley is member of the American Legion, Post #40, Van Buren. Manley was a very humorous man and loved entertaining his visiting friends and family late into the evening with jokes and cocktails.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Sue Lyons of Van Buren; two daughters, Sam Lyons and her fiancé Tristin Ouellette and Nikki Lyons and her fiancé Evan Grant, all of Van Buren; two grandchildren, Zoey and Ayden; several siblings, including Linda Vincent of Ohio and Tommy Jackemeyer of Newburgh; and many friends spread near and far.
He was predeceased by his foster parents, biological parents, and several siblings, including Phyllis Lyons McGee.
A Life Celebration will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of remembrance. Interment will be in Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou.
