Madawaska---Maria Cyr Lagasse, 83, passed away on June 13, 2011 at a Madawaska health care facility. She was born in St. Basil, N.B., the daughter of Treffle and Alice Cyr. Maria worked at St. John Valley Times for many years. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Daughters of Isabella of Madawaska. She is survived by two sisters, Leanne and Laura May; three daughters, Laureen of Florida, Pauline of St. Jacques, and Carol of St. Etienne, PQ. She was predeceased by her husband, Fidele Lagasse in 1996. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2pm on Thursday, June 16 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Wednesday. There will be no visiting hours before the service on Thursday.
