Van Buren--- Marie B. Dumond, 75, passed away peacefully September 17, 2026, with her loving husband at her side. She was born July 24, 1951 in Bristol, CT, a daughter of the late Clarence and Eleanor (Makara) Clayton Sr.

Marie was employed by Dr. Charles Plourde at his optometry office for over 20 years. Marie was not only an employee but quickly became a close family friend of Dr. Charles and his wife Linda and spent many holidays and outings together. Previously Marie worked at Borderview for several years. She loved trips out of town for lunch and shopping all over the County. An avid baker, she never hesitated to share her goodies with her friends and family, always with a light tongue-in-cheek, humorous comment.

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Joey Dumond, of Van Buren; one son, Peter Michaud and his companion Erin of Arizona; three siblings, Clarence Clayton Jr., James Clayton, and Eleanor Mikulskis; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her first husband, Gabriel “Bie” Michaud in 2003.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 3 PM on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 1 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Grand River Cemetery, Van Buren.
