Van Buren---Mattie M. Cyr, 104, passed away on October 15, 2016 at a Van Buren health care facility. She was born in Van Buren on September 16, 1912, daughter of Peter and Annie (Thibodeau) Marquis. In her younger years, Mattie loved spending time at her camp at the lake in Lewiston with her husband Clarence. She enjoyed ice skating and square dancing. She was a lovable person who made friends with everyone she met. She loved going for rides along the St. John River and stopping in at Mizpah. She is survived by all of her nieces and nephews. Mattie was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Cyr; her son, Gary Cyr; one brother, Guy Marquis; two sisters, Francis Martin, Constance Fletcher. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Church. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours. Interment will be held immediately after the service at the Parish cemetery.
