fort kent – Maurice D. Pelletier (Tyrod) of Fort Kent, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022, in Fort Kent, Maine. Maurice was born in New Canada, Maine, on December 24, 1937, the son of the late William and Modeste (Daigle) Pelletier. Early in his life, Maurice enlisted in the Army National Guard in Fort Kent, Maine. He received an honorable discharge after serving 4 years in C-Battery. Maurice was a lifelong truck driver who worked for John Noble out of Caribou and hauled transport for Daigle Oil Company. Maurice always enjoyed giving rides in his big truck to many nieces, nephews, and family friends along with his grandchildren Brandon and Jenna. During his retirement he worked for Daigle & Houghton where he transported trucks to different dealerships throughout the United States and Canada with record breaking times. Maurice also was known for his practical jokes and ability to make others laugh. Maurice was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, especially his grandchildren Brandon and Jenna, who were always a light in his life. Maurice spent his final years at Forest Hill Manor in Fort Kent where he received exceptional care and considered staff and patients as extended family. Maurice is survived by his wife, Claudette (Nadeau) Pelletier; his two children, John Pelletier and and wife, Mary, and Todd Pelletier; two grandchildren; Brandon and Jenna; one brother; Edmund Pelletier and sister-in-laws, Blanche, and Claire Pelletier. He was predeceased by his parents; along with five brothers, Harold and wife, Francina Pelletier, Gerald and wife, Lena Pelletier, Ray Pelletier, Phil Pelletier and infant brother, Albert Pelletier; and one sister, Fern and husband, Angelo Morneault. Maurice was a communicant of Saint Louis Catholic Church in Fort Kent, where he was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. A Mass will be held on April 30 at 10 a.m. at the Saint Louis Catholic Church in Fort Kent. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Forest Hill Activities Fund for Residents at 25 Bolduc Ave in Fort Kent, Maine 04743.
