Melissa Ann (Walker) Jandreau, 87, passed away peacefully at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. She is now reunited with her husband and love of her life, Lester, who predeceased her on February 17, 2016. Melissa was born in Allagash, Maine on January 15, 1930, daughter of Sam and Rhoda Walker. She attended Allagash School and Fort Kent Community High School. Melissa was a wonderful cook and was famous for the beautiful Christmas candy she made each year to share with family and friends. She enjoyed travelling with her husband and they spent 16 winters in Florida where they made many friends and lifelong acquaintances. In 2009, due to failing health, they moved to Sunbury Retirement Community in Bangor, Maine. In May of 2013 they moved to the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou. The care she received at the Maine Veterans Home was exceptional and we, the family, are very grateful for the kindness and care she received. She is survived by her four children, Brenda Ginn of Hamburg, NJ; Terry Ann (Harold) Ouellette of Winthrop, Maine; Mark (Paula) Jandreau of Alberta, Canada; and Molly Jandreau of Augusta, Maine. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Tommy, Tricia, Erika, Renae, Wade, Alissa, Kyle and Ashley and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Iva (Bert) Picard of CT and a special sister Lola McBreaity of Caribou, Maine; two sisters in law, Barbara (Murray) Walker and Betty (Reynold) Walker. She is predeceased by her parents, Sam and Rhoda Walker; sisters, Dora, Blanche and Julia; brothers, Lincoln, Murray and Reynold. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11am at St. Charles Catholic Church in St. Francis. Family and friends may call at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home from 8:00am until 10:30am on Monday before the service. Spring burial will be held in the Parish cemetery.
